Biker & Back Patches

A full set of colours is three pieces: top rocker, centre patch, bottom rocker. We make them together as one batch so the border thread and the twill match exactly across all three.

Back patches are the largest thing we make — up to 30 cm, the size of a frying pan. They are slow on the machine and priced accordingly, but they are also the piece a club keeps for twenty years.

03Embroidery coverage

30% — text onlyLetters and an outline on a plain twill ground. The least expensive.50% — mostly twillHalf the surface stays as twill cloth. 04Border

MerrowedA raised overlock rope around the edge, about 3 mm wide. The traditional patch edge. Only possible on simple outlines — circles, shields, ovals, rectangles.Hot cutA heated blade seals the edge flush with the stitching. Follows any outline at all, and can go down to a 1 mm border. Use it for cut-out shapes and letters.StitchedA flat satin-stitch border inside the cut line. Lies flatter than merrow under a jacket seam, and works on moderately complex shapes.

05Backing

Plain (no backing)Heat-pressed flat with nothing added. Sewn on by hand or machine.IncludedPlastic backingA firm film pressed onto the back.
